DEEPI AHLUWALIA is a food and travel writer & photographer, columnist for Life & Thyme, and co-author of A Woman's Place (March 5, 2019; Little, Brown and Company). Her background in art direction and pastry arts guides her work in commercial and editorial photography, recipe development, and culinary storytelling.
As an art director, Deepi worked with a wide range of clients on local and national advertising campaigns. Her love of food and travel opened the doors to the culinary world, helping her develop a deeper understanding of food culture, ingredients and techniques while working in professional kitchens. Photography and writing became tools for creative expression, coalescing all her passions under one umbrella.
Deepi holds a B.A. in Communication from The University of Texas at Arlington. She is also a graduate of Miami Ad School (Art Direction) and The French Culinary Institute (Pastry Arts). Deepi lives in Los Angeles with her husband, two daughters and two dogs.
LIFE & THYME MAGAZINE
Since 2014, Deepi has been a regular contributor for the culinary storytelling magazine, Life & Thyme, which covers global stories about the emotions, struggles, successes, history, craft and issues that surround food culture. Deepi's quarterly column, Bone Deep, digs into her curiosities about food, exploring its historical and cultural significance.
